Anderson has rapidly ascended to the very top of Boston's deeply talented farm system. The Red Sox challenged him this season by moving him to AA Portland about 2/3 of the way through the season and Lars responded with even better numbers than he amassed for High-A hitter's paradise Lancaster. Anderson is a superstar in the making with tremendous raw power and plate discipline that seeminly gets better at each minor league stop. Defensively, Anderson has the tools to be a Gold Glove calibur 1B. If there are any weaknesses in Anderson's game it would have to be his speed, though it rates as just below average. In his prime, Anderson reminds me of Justin Morneau as a .300 hitter who will belt 30-35 HR and 100 plus RBI for many All-Star seasons to come.
- 2009 Projection: Lars will get some spring training AB's to get a closer look at where his bat is against MLB pitching, though he will likely head to either AA Portland to build on his wildly successful '08 numbers. Expect a promotion to AAA Pawtucket by mid season and, perhaps, a much anticipated MLB debut in September.
