Bucardo struggled a bit this season in his repeat performance at short season Salem-Keizer. Bucardo went 6-7 with a 4.57 ERA and 40 K's in 67 IP. Burcardo proved to be quite hittable allowing a .357 BAA. Bucardo has decent stuff, a 90-92 MPH fastball with heavy sink and a solid slider and change that needs polish. Bucardo has decent control and his sinker effectively induces ground ball outs.
2009 Projection: This next season will be pivotal for Bucardo's future as a starting pitcher. He is still fairly young, but with several high ceiling pitching prospects ahead of him, Bucardo will be hard pressed to maintain his status as a future starting pitcher. He will likely begin the '09 season at Low-A Augusta. Watch to see how hittable he is at that level and what the Giants decide to do with him going forward.
